Fairfield County Speech Therapy grew out of a hospital career. Jennifer Fusaro spent her early years as a speech-language pathologist in acute care at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston and Backus Hospital in Connecticut, conducting swallow studies and working alongside neurologists, radiologists and rehabilitation teams with patients recovering from stroke and brain injury. When she moved into private practice, she brought that way of working with her: read the medical picture first, coordinate with the physicians and schools already involved, and set goals the patient actually cares about. The practice now treats children and adults from 17 Bridge Square in Westport and by telehealth across Connecticut.

Every clinician here is licensed by the Connecticut Department of Public Health and certified by ASHA, which requires ongoing continuing education so that treatment stays current with the evidence. We are deliberately small. Three clinicians means you will see the same therapist every visit, your therapist will know your family, and questions get answered by someone who actually treats you.

Practical things: we are in-network with Anthem, Cigna and Aetna and provide coded receipts for other plans. Every patient has an online portal for reports, invoices and scheduling. Evaluations come with a written report you can share with your pediatrician, physician or school. And if we are not the right fit for a concern, we will say so and point you to someone who is.
